I can not think of a better match than Noam Katz! He understands education, has intense Jewish commitment that permeates denominational boundaries, and is a superbly gifted musician. All that with no ego, great approachability, and out of the box thinking.

Dear Noam:

I remember the first time hearing your melody at the Friday song session... the session was nice, sweet even cute...and then your storm overwhelmed me and the room with an intense spirit and I knew I was in a special place.

The essence was that Friday (Shabbat) and your songs were magic. The energy that night informed by your melody transformed a room into a sanctuary and a sanctuary into a house of God!

May you always know such blessing and spirit and may all your melodies soar like your am Yisrael....

Noam -- I wanted to thank you for your visit to New Orleans and Temple Sinai. Your enthusiasm for music and Judaism was truly infectious.  Thanks

"Two Thumbs Up!" Noam is really one of the up and coming Jewish Folk/Rock Musicians in America today. Here in the Northeast, Noam is very hot with the high school age crowd, though his music and performances appeal to all ages. I have seen him perform in front of many different kinds of venues. I am quite sure you will find him to be outstanding! He is energetic, charismatic and his music is passionate, invitational and accessible to all.

Noam and his band are terrific! They have a terrific and professional sound (somewhat funky) and are great with all ages. They will be both educational and entertaining and the highlight of the day I'm sure.

Dear Noam,

Thank you so much for bringing your sweet music to Danbury. Your music and presentation was absolutely magnificent - and we are very grateful.

Noam writes contemporary Jewish music that makes ancient Jewish texts and prayers accessible to everyone. Noam's music touches your spirit and... it will bring your spirit to new places. This year's core value is Ruach - spirit - and Noam's music exemplifies this value as it is both spiritual and spirited.

As a Jewish music specialist/songleader/music teacher and generally intense lover of Jewish music, I tend to classify music in two categories:
1) Does it move me/do I like the way it sounds?
2) Can I use it?
Noam's debut recording does it for me in both of these categories. Tracks like Halleli, Eliyahu Hanavi, and Nachshon are destined to be super sing-along classics, while Noam demonstrates his ability to create a range of musical experiences with tracks such as Layehudim... This is a great sounding album...

Noam's debut in the world of contemporary Jewish music... shows a deep love for and commitment to Judaism by this young musician from Boston.

“Your music is truly inspired and I had heard you were in rabbinical school... incredible combination. I really believe you are going to have huge impact in Jewish music and culture.”

Noam Katz is an outstanding performer.  He is engaging and can relate to audiences filled with all ages.  He is highly energetic, warm and gets people to want to sing with him.  His incorporation of his Uganda experience makes his concerts educational and teaches a great message of Tikkun Olam to his audience.  I highly recommend Noam and we can't wait to invite him back.

I certainly remember your debut of Am Yisrael Chai (at Hava Nashira in 2003)… a moment in HN history that no one is likely to ever forget! J  By the way, my students LOVE the Five Book Strut!

I had a wonderful experience today teaching 4th graders about the Abayudaya, and wanted to share it with you! I teach at a day school, and the 4th graders are studying Africa right now, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to teach JEWISH-AFRICAN music! I made a hand-out that gave the history of the Abayudaya, and showed photos from Noam Katz's website... The kids were fascinated to see these African children wearing kipot and celebrating havdalah! I taught an Abayudaya "Shema" melody, and Noam's "Am Yisrael Chai" and "Mirembe." "Mirembe" was a BIG HIT. there are verses in Luganda, Arabic and Hebrew, as well as English. ... They sang the chorus with incredible RUACH!!! I was soooo pleased! Thank you, Noam, for such a wonderful song with such a wonderful message of peace!

Noam, I've been listening to your beautiful CD [“Mirembe”] since I got it. I need to tell you a little secret. Usually I get a CD, listen through it a few times to see if there is anything I really enjoy, and learn those songs. It's not often that I can just sit and listen and leave the CD on repeat, but this one is really beautiful. Not just the songs (“Am Yisrael” I already teach, and I love the “Mirembe” song), but the whole compilation. It’s unique. The rhythms and the feeling......beautiful.

What else can I say… I really love it.

I’m a big fan of your music, as are my students here at my synagogue…I think your music speaks to our youth, with the texts you choose, as well as your melodies and rhythms; I also am fascinated by the work you’ve done with Ugandan Jews and the way you incorporate their musical style into your compositions.  FYI:  I heard you perform “Am Yisraelchai” at Biennial this year and went wild for it.

A few years ago I received "Rakia" from you when you sent the CD out to all the song leaders at the union camps.  Your Psalm 146 is wonderful!  The other thing that I really appreciate about your music is that you use a lot of Hebrew…I believe that Jewish music is a great way to get kids excited about Hebrew and to feel good about it as part of their Jewish identity.  Music like yours makes it cool to sing in Hebrew.  I think that is so important for the future of our movement.
